KERALA BACKWATERS

Day 01: Arrive Kochi

Arrive at Kochi (Cochin) airport / railway station and transfer to hotel. Kochi is the gateway to God’s Own Country. This lovely seaside city is flanked by the Western Ghats on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. Its proximity to the equator, the sea and the mountains provide a rich experience of a moderate equatorial climate. It is one of the largest ports of India, a major naval base and one of the finest natural harbours in the world. Check-in at the hotel. Afternoon proceed on a half day city tour visiting the Bolghatty Palace, Dutch Palace, St. Francis Church, Jewish Synagogue, Jew Town and the Chinese Fishing Nets. If time permits, you can enjoy a harbour cruise at sundown (on own). Dinner and overnight at hotel


Day 02: Kochi – Munnar

After breakfast, depart for Munnar, a hill resort ideal for a relaxing holiday. The tea gardens and cardamom plantations give Munnar a beautiful look. It is one of the major centers of tea trade in Kerala. It has the highest peak, Ana Mudi, in South India and is home to animals like elephants and the rare Nilgiri Tahrs. Among the exotic flora, there is the Neelakurinji, which blooms every 12 years. On arrival, check-in the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (Kochi-Munnar: 140 kms /04 hrs)


Day 03: Munnar

After breakfast, depart on a local tour of Munnar visiting Top Station (41 kms / 01 ½ hrs) for fantastic high mountain vistas. You can see the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu from here. Onto Mattuputty Dam, the Indo-Swiss Project where rare hybrids, especially the Indo-Swiss hybrid cattle are bred and the Tata Tea factory and Estate (subject to prior permission). Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (Munnar)


Day 04: Munnar – Thekkady

After breakfast depart for Thekkady. Arrive and check-in at hotel. One of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in the country, it is truly a dream destination. Thekkady is a pleasant heaven on earth for those who love nature in its wild manifestations. Later visit the Spice Gardens at Vandanmedu where you can walk through the sprawling cardamom plantations, which is a pleasant experience. Other than Cardamom plantations, one can see coffee, pepper and rubber plantations. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (Munnar-Thekkady: 4 hrs)


Day 05: Thekkady

After breakfast proceed for Thekkady for shopping and rest of the day is for leisured. Evening enjoy an optional boat ride on Lake Periyar. Dinner and overnight at hotel.


Day 06: Thekkady – Alleppey

After breakfast, you check out of your hotel. Depart by surface for Alleppey It is undoubtedly the most invigorating and fascinating paradise in Kerala.This charming emerald peninsula is situated on the heart of the backwaters. The fresh water of the lake runs into the mainland making a labyrinth of lagoons, brooks, canals and waterways. Check-in at hotel. Afternoon is at leisure to enjoy an Ayurvedic massage at the hotel (on own). Overnight at houseboat.(Thekkady – Alleppey 110 kms/04 hrs)


Day 07: Kochi Mumbai

After breakfast, proceed to cochin airport / station for the journey.
